SE Queensland importer Ocean Arrow Marine has teamed up with some of the Gold Coast's best marine trades to create an 8m centre console built for Australian offshore and reef fishing, priced well below what this level of finish usually costs. There's a familiar problem for anglers who want a genuine offshore centre console. The boats that have the range, the electronics and the finish usually cost the earth. Ocean Arrow Marine, based in South East Queensland, decided to change that. The result is the Pelagic Offshore 790. A proven hull, built to spec The 790's fibreglass hull is a custom build from Ocean Arrow Marine's manufacturing partners in the PRC. That team has more than 15 years of experience building fibreglass boats. The hull is made to Ocean Arrow's specifications and then shipped to Australia. Every boat is then fitted out locally by Gold Coast specialists who know these waters well. Local hands, local expertise Runaway Bay Marine Services Honda completed the rigging and fit-out, including the V8 350hp Honda. The motor sits on a hydraulic jacking plate. That gives the 790 a feature many offshore boats lack: it can reach shallow water. One minute you can be running wide to the shelf for pelagics. Later the same day you can creep up onto a sand flat or into a blue hole on the Great Barrier Reef. The custom hard top taga comes from Black Marlin Towers, a name trusted by game fishing crews up and down the coast. David Dickson Marine Electrics on the Gold Coast completed all boat wiring and electrical work, with clean, reliable installs built for saltwater life. Runaway Bay Marine Covers handled the marine coverings to finish the boat. Range and electronics to go long A 500L fuel tank makes long-range trips possible, and the helm is fully set up for them. It has a Garmin 9013 fishfinder/GPS combo, Garmin autopilot and Garmin UHF radio. Zipwake Pro automatic trim tabs keep the boat level and comfortable when conditions turn. A windlass anchor winch with a stainless steel anchor makes anchoring on the reef easy. A real fishing platform The 790 is designed by anglers. It has a 60L live bait tank, two saltwater flush kill tanks, and a saltwater deck wash to keep the deck clean when the fishing gets busy. The large front casting deck suits sight casting on the flats or working surface lures through a bust-up. Comfortable enough for the whole crew The 790 is just as good for a family day. Add the cushions and the casting deck turns into a day bed. It also converts into a bow table with comfortable seating for six. The large console has an enclosed toilet. A 100L freshwater tank supplies the outdoor shower and sink. Dual helm seats have storage underneath, and a fold-away rear seat frees up the cockpit when it's time to fish.
